You know, we have tested many robot vacuum cleaners on our channel – Tech Brothers, and most of them have the mopping function. So, they are called 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop cleaners.
However, we didn’t test the robot mop without vacuuming function. Is it really useful?
In this article, we will try the new Botslab M20, but it is not just a robot mop, but also the world’s first quad-mopping pads robot mop.
It comes with a self-cleaning and air-drying station.
I am very excited about this robot, so let’s get to unboxing.
Botslab World's First Quad-Mopping Pads Robot Mop - IndieGoGo
Unboxing
If you have already had a robot cleaner with self-cleaning station, then you know that they come in a very large box. Botslab M20 is no exception.
We can see the image of a robot and a model name on the box.
When you open the box, you will find an envelope with user manual, network instruction and even stickers.
Then, we have another box with the robot mop, and a cleaning station. You now, a cleaning station is really big, but we will talk about its dimensions a little later.
Now, let’s open a box with a robot mop.
Here we have a robot itself, a cleaning tool, a mop bracket and four mopping pads. There are also power cables for different markets in the box.
You know, it is very unusual to unbox a robot mop, because there are no dustbins, side brushes and other accessories, like the robot vacuum cleaners.
Robot Mop
Now, let’s talk about design of the robot mop, and then we will take a look at a cleaning station.
First, I want to say that Botslab M20 is about the same size as the most robot vacuum cleaners. The dimensions are 340 by 340 by 79 mm.
The weight is 3500 grams.
The new robot mop is available only in white color.
On the top cover, we can see the company logo. By the way, did you know that this robot mop cleaner is from 360 Company? We have already tested some products of this brand, such as a smart video doorbell and a robot vacuum cleaner.
Then, there is a home button to return a robot mop to the cleaning station, and clean/power button to start/pause the cleaning, and power on/off a robot.
You can also press the home and the power buttons at the same time to start network configuration.
Botslab M20 has a laser navigation sensor, and it looks very interesting.
Like the other robot vacuum cleaners, the new robot mop has a bumper on the front.
This is a recharge sensor.
A speaker and infrared sensor are on the side. The charging contacts are on the back.
You know, so far, the robot mop looks very similar to the robot vacuum cleaner.
However, if we look at the bottom, there are no main brush and side brushes.
The robot mop has two driving wheels, omnidirectional wheel, and cliff sensors.
The battery compartment is in the center, next to the sticker with some specs of the robot mop.
The mopping pads are installed very easily. First, make sure that the mopping pads are on the brackets, and then push them on the mounts at the bottom.
Self-cleaning Station
Talking about self-cleaning station, it has a nice round shape. The dimensions are 410 by 445 by 390 mm. The weight is 7.2 kg.
There is a base button on the front. The sticker says that you can press the button to start mopping when the robot is docked.
You can also press the button for two seconds. The robot will exit the base, and the station will start self-cleaning.
There is also indicator on the front of the base.
Under the top cover, we have a dirty water tank with a capacity of 3.5 liters, and a 4 liters clean water tank.
Finally, there is a power supply and air inlets on the back of the station.
Now, I want to show you the app, and then we will talk about how to use a robot mop with a self-cleaning base, and will do a cleaning test.
App
So, the app is called Botslab, and you can download it on Android and iOS devices.
The connection of the robot mop to the app is very simple.
You just need to power on a robot, and then press Add device in the app.
Now, select Robot Mop M20.
Follow the instructions in the app to connect a robot.
Before you start cleaning, the robot needs to create a map of the room. For that, press on the Fast Mapping button. We will do this later.
In the app, we can see the area cleaned, cleaning time and estimated area. There is also a battery level and robot status on the top.
Then, we can swipe on the screen, and choose a mop pad humidity, charging times, mop pad self-cleaning, scheduled cleaning, and the language for the voice prompts as well as volume.
In the Settings menu, there is a cleaning report, do not disturb mode, accessory store, and scheduled cleaning.
In a smart cleaning menu, you can activate reduced collision mode, carpet detection and fall protection mode.
There is also a child lock in the settings.
Battery
Before using the robot, I want to talk a little bit about battery.
Botslab M20 has 3200mAh battery and the battery life on a single charge is 180 minutes.
Of course, the robot mop automatically returns to the base when the battery level is low.
Cleaning
OK, now, let’s see the complete cleaning process.
First, make sure that you connect a self-cleaning base to the power supply.
Also, you need to fill a water into a clean water tank.
When the battery of the robot is charged, you can start cleaning.
First, the robot mop leaves the base to create a map of the room. You know, laser navigation works very well. The mapping takes only a few minutes.
Then, the robot returns to the base and prepares the mopping pads for cleaning.
Finally, the robot mop starts cleaning. It goes on the sides first, and then zigzags.
You can watch the process in the app.
After finishing cleaning, the robot returns to the base. The self-cleaning base cleans the mopping pads, and then drying them.
It is a complete cleaning process of Botslab M20.
The mopping pads are very clean, like the new. You just need to empty the dirty water tank, and fill a clean water.
Noise Level
By the way, unlike the robot vacuum cleaners, the robot mop is very quiet, because it doesn’t sweep, but only spins mopping pads.
The noise level is about 45 dB.
Conclusion
So, this was my first review of the robot mop, and I am very surprised by it.
I didn’t see the point of a robot mop before because it couldn’t sweep. But now I realize that a robot mop is much better than a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop cleaner.
If you often clean the floors, you definitely need a mopping robot.
However, it doesn’t replace you a robot vacuum cleaner, because even before you start the robot mop, it tells you that you need to sweep the floors.
I also like the navigation of Botslab M20. I think it has the best mapping and navigation I have tested in the robot cleaners in 2022.
By the way, Botslab M20 is the first robot mop with quad mopping pads, and it really does a good job.
So, the new robot mop from Botslab is a must-have for those who doesn’t like to mop the floor by hands.
